The National Police Federation has released new data Wednesday that indicates high public support for the Saskatchewan RCMP.
The NPF says the public opinion research was conducted in late August and 78 per cent of Saskatchewan residents are satisfied with RCMP policing, including those in rural areas.
The survey shows more than three in four Saskatchewan residents feel there are more important priorities to deal with than establishing a new Marshals Service and 41 per cent would invest the estimated $20 million dollars a year to run the Marshals Service, in the RCMP.
The survey was conducted online with a randomly selected sample of 1,000 adults (18 and older) who are Saskatchewan residents.
The three top priorities among those asked include increased rural response time and increased resources for policing, both at 37 per cent. And 34 per cent said more priority on fighting opioid and other drug dealers.
