A mid-October afternoon at Griffiths Stadium felt more like a mid-September game, with a little wind on top of a warm sun to light up the field for another U-Prairie Challenge between the U of S Huskies and U of R Rams, with both teams needing a victory to improve their chances at a playoff berth, and with a 22-20 Huskie win, the Dogs have officially punched their ticket into the postseason with much more to be determined after next week.

Saskatchewan kicked off the scoring thanks to a Ryker Frank rushing touchdown early in the first, which was also a recorded setting mark for the star running back. With the touchdown, Frank has become the programs all-time leader in rushing touchdowns. Late in the first quarter, Isaac Wegner kicked an 18-yard field goal, scoring Regina’s first points. Lukas Scott would respond with zeros on the clock for the Huskies with a 32-yard field goals ending the first quarter 10-3 in favor of Saskatchewan.
In the second quarter Wegner kicked his second field goal for the first points of the quarter to make it a 10-6 game for the Huskies. The Huskies offence struggled as the vast majority of their possession resulted in 2-and-outs. A safety and another Wegner field goal would give Regina a one-point lead 11-10 going into the half.
A rouge would start off the third quarter adding onto the Regina lead, now 12-10. Third quarter would be much like the second, with very little scoring on either side with back-to-back safeties on both sides making it a 14-12 lead for Regina heading into the fourth and final quarter.
Just over two-minutes in Lukas Scott drove in a 32-yard field goal to give Saskatchewan a one-point lead, now 15-14 before a late fourth quarter drive put together by quarterback Anton Amundrud resulted in the eventual game-winning touchdown as he connected with Daniel Wiebe for a 24-yard touchdown giving the Huskies a 22-14 lead. Regina would make it interesting at the end as Rams quarterback Noah Pelletier found the endzone late making it a 22-20 lead still in favour of Saskatchewan and needing a two-point convert to tie the game, which was stopped by the Huskies defence holding on for the victory and clinching a playoff spot in the process.
