The Dangerous Persons Alert in the Thunder Rapids area has been cancelled. The Saskatchewan RCMP says two suspects were arrested in the Tobin Lake area and two others may be on foot in the same area, so the increased police presence continues there. Highway 123 is blocked north of Tobin Lake because of the ongoing search and the public is asked to avoid the area.
Around 8:30 this morning (Thurs), Prince Albert RCMP were told an individual was driving in a vehicle near the White Star elevator north of P.A. and was approached by multiple males in another vehicle. The individual was shot and their vehicle was stolen. The victim was transported to hospital with unknown injuries.
Initially police thought the suspects were traveling east of Nipawin, then they were spotted with a gun around 10 a.m. on Highway 123 heading towards Cumberland House. An update from RCMP just before 11 a.m. stated the suspects had abandoned the truck and were on foot in the Thunder Rapids area. RCMP from multiple units and detachments responded.
The Dangerous Persons Alert was cancelled because the Saskatchewan RCMP has determined the incident no longer meets the criteria for an alert.
