Three homicides in Regina in a 48 hour period making it four in January has some wondering what is happening.
Regina’s police chief is telling the public that the three incidents last weekend is something to wrap the department’s head around, but there shouldn’t be fear in the community.
Evan Bray says in the three homicides last weekend, the people involved were known to one another and something happened to have the situation take a tragic twist.
Bray says it’s not just drugs and alcohol that are problems but those are factors. He doesn’t think gangs plays a role in these homicides.
Between this, the ongoing lockout at the Co-op Refinery and an abundance of weapons and drugs on the streets, it is stretching the resources of the department, but Bray says his officers continue to do fine work.
