At its annual fall Legislative Assembly, the Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations will hold elections for Chief, First Vice-Chief and Third Vice-Chief. Bobby Cameron of Witchekan Lake First Nation is seeking re-election as Chief. He was first elected in 2015 and if he wins, it will be his fourth term. Aly Bear of Whitecap Dakota Nation, who was the Third Vice-Chief, is also vying for the position. If Bear wins, she would be the first woman to become FSIN Chief.
David Pratt is running to be re-elected as First Vice-Chief. He has two challengers – Jocelyn Campbell-Chaplin and Milton Gamble. With Bear stepping down as Third Vice-Chief to run for Chief, six people are campaigning for that position. They are Reginald Bellerose, Willis Janvier, Fabian Head, Hailey Rose, Wally Burns and Orrin Greyeyes. Delegates begin voting Thursday morning.
