November is Financial Literacy Month, so to help investors and consumers protect themselves, the Financial and Consumer Affairs Authority of Saskatchewan has some advice. FCAA Chair and CEO Roger Sobotkiewicz says financial literacy is important at any age.
The FCAA reminds everyone to be mindful of cryptocurrency scams. Protect yourself by checking which companies are registered in Saskatchewan through the website www.aretheyregistered.ca. Only deal with registered companies. Sobotkiewicz also advises to acquaint yourself with what you are investing in and know how the product or service for that investment works. You can also get a second opinion from a professional about the investment. He warns investors to beware of people offering to recoup your losses, because they are often scams as well.
