The caller also indicated there had been a physical altercation prior to the vehicle following them. At 11:44 p.m. police received a second call regarding the same vehicle. Three minutes after that an officer in a marked police cruiser saw the vehicle in question going northbound on Main Street at a high rate of speed.

Paramedics pronounced one of the vehicle’s passengers, a 31-year-old man, deceased at the scene.
Two other people in the vehicle, the driver and another passenger were taken to hospital for treatment. SIRT’s investigation will examine the actions of police during this incident while the Moose Jaw Police Service will investigate the driver and his actions.
A final report will be issued to the public within 90 days of the investigation ending. SIRT’s mandate includes independently investigating incidents where an individual has died or suffered serious injury arising from the actions of on and off-duty police officers, or while in the custody of police.
