A 49-year-old man wanted by Cut Knife RCMP has been taken into custody. On Thursday they determined Willis Checkosis was in a home on Poundmaker Cree Nation.
Officers obtained a warrant to enter the residence. As they approached, they say a man fled into a field behind the home. Cut Knife RCMP and Saskatchewan RCMP’s Police Dog Services located him a short time later. Checkosis, was arrested on his outstanding warrant and is in North Battleford Provincial Court today.
A warrant was issued for Checkosis after a search warrant was executed Last Sunday at a home on Poundmaker Cree Nation in relation to an ongoing trafficking investigation and report seizing about 250 grams of cocaine, along with trafficking paraphernalia, ammunition and weapons.
Checkosis faces charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and failing to comply with release order conditions.
