The 2024 Everest Canadian Curling Club Championships continue today and run through Sunday in Barrie, Ontario. There are 14 women’s teams and 14 men’s teams taking part from all provinces and territories, including Saskatchewan. The teams in each gender division are split into two pools of seven teams each for preliminary round-robin play. That is followed by the top eight teams advancing to the modified double knock-out playoffs. Saskatchewan is represented by the Samantha Yachiw foursome from the Saskatoon-Sutherland club on the women’s side. They have 4 wins, 1 loss…good for 1st place in Pool A. On the men’s side, Saskatchewan is represented by the Aaron Shutra quartet from the Saskatoon-Nutana club. They finished preliminary play with 3 wins, 3 losses…tied for 3rd place in Pool B. The Saskatchewan Rush start their fourth and final weekend of training camp with a workout session open to the public, starting at 3:45 p.m. at the Henk Ruys Soccer Centre. Saturday’s session is closed to the public. The Rush will open the 2024-25 National Lacrosse League regular-season on Saturday, November 30th, visiting the Albany Firewolves at 6 p.m. Saskatchewan’s first home game will be Saturday, December 14th against the Halifax Thunderbirds at 7 p.m. at SaskTel Centre.
