Thanks to the Step Up for Mental Health run/walk in September, 17 charities and not-for-profit organizations will be receiving funding to deliver mental health support programs in Saskatchewan.
The Saskatoon Community Foundation partnered with 321Go Running, the operator of the Mental Health run, for this initiative.
From the event, $148,000 was raised.
Jonathan Huntington, event director of Step Up for Mental Health and President of 321 Go Running, which produces running events for charitable causes in the provinces, thanks the 6,000 participants and the sponsors for their help in the efforts to provide funds for addressing mental health challenges.
With Cameco as its presenting sponsor, Step Up for Mental Health is the largest run/walk in Saskatchewan.
Charities and non-profits apply for funding from the net proceeds and a four-member adjudication panel makes the difficult decisions on which organizations to choose for funding.
