As of January 1st, SaskPower is alerting customers that the federal carbon tax applied to the Crown Corporations carbon emissions will increase from $80 to $95 a tonne.
To cover that, SaskPower is increasing the carbon tax amount collected on customer bills by a system-wide average of 2.9 per cent.
In a news release the utility says the average residential increase will be a $26 annual increase, bringing carbon tax payments on electricity to an average of $107 a year.
Farm customers will see an average increase of $75 this year, for a total on average of $314 per year.
