The Saskatchewan NDP is accusing the Sask. Party government of “turning their backs on a dying man.”
According to an NDP news release, Fred Sandeski is a Weyburn man facing terminal illness and isn’t expected to live past January.
Keith Jorgenson, Saskatchewan NDP Seniors Shadow Minister, says Fred was offered the option of medical assistance in dying several months ago because he couldn’t afford supported long-term care.
The Official Opposition add that Fred was initially assured that he could remain in a special care home free of charge for a few more weeks, but now, they claim Sask. Party officials told the Sandeskis that he no longer qualified for end-of-life care because he isn’t sick enough.
The NDP says Health Minister Cockrill has still not reached out and spoken to Fred.
