Gracyn Sawchyn made sure the Saskatoon Blades wouldn’t extend their road winning streak and their run of head-to-head victories over his Edmonton Oil Kings Wednesday night.

The Florida Panthers’ second round draft pick scored into an empty net after assisting on Edmonton’s first three goals as the Oil Kings doubled the Bridge City Bunch 4-2. The Blue and Gold came into the game with four straight victories away from SaskTel Centre as well as a streak of 11 consecutive head-to-head triumphs over the Oil Kings, including six wins-in-a-row in Edmonton, dating back to February, 2022. Centre Hayden Harsanyi scored a goal and assisted on Cooper Williams’ power play tally for the Blades. It was Harsanyi’s debut with Saskatoon after being part of the large package of assets moved in Monday’s trade with Medicine Hat. The Oil Kings out-shot the Bridge City Bunch 36-28 while improving their record to 21-14-3 for 45 points, good for fourth place in the Eastern Conference and three points behind the Blue and Gold, Tigers and Hitmen. The Blades take their 22-13-4 record to Calgary for a Friday first place showdown.
