With weather warnings for snow, strong winds and colder temperatures beginning tonight, the City of Saskatoon is urging drivers to be cautious and postpone non-essential travel on the roads and the sidewalks until conditions improve. The City says in a news release that keeping traffic to a minimum ensures emergency vehicles can move safely and efficiently.
City crews are monitoring road conditions and addressing snow and ice along priority streets and busy intersections, but the strong winds could blow sand and salt off the roads, potentially leading to icy spots as the temperatures drop. Streets in open areas may see some deep drifts. The City advises not to drive through them. Crews will clear them when visibility improves.
