Statistics Canada says Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Newfoundland and Labrador accounted for the vast majority of Canadian production of crude oil and equivalent products in November. Alberta accounted for 79 per cent of that, Saskatchewan 10 per cent and Newfoundland seven per cent.
Alberta delivered 183 million gigajoules of natural gas to industrial customers in November; Ontario was next at 35.5 million, and then Saskatchewan at about 16 million.
Hydro is the main contributor to Canada’s electricity production but when it comes to combustible fuels, over two-thirds of that comes from Alberta and Saskatchewan with our neighbour to the west producing 6.4 million Mega Watt hours and Saskatchewan 1.7 million.
