The Federal Court of Appeal has dismissed the court challenge of 4 British Columbia First Nations in regards to the Trans Mountain Pipeline expansion.
Their challenge was about whether there had been enough consultation.
The decision concludes there is no basis for interfering with the Governor in Council’s second authorization of the Project, so the judicial review applications are dismissed.
The federal government bought the pipeline for $4.5-billion in 2018 and construction of the expansion is already underway.
Most of the expansion follows the already existing pipeline.
The Trans Mountain website cites a combined impact on government revenue for construction and the first 20 years of expanded operations at $46.7-billion.
Of that B.C. receives $5.7-billion, Alberta receives $19.4-billion and the rest of Canada receives $21.6-billion.
These numbers were calculated based on Conference Board of Canada studies in 2014 and 15.
