A Saskatoon man wanted on Canada-wide warrants in connection to an extensive fraud investigation was located in the Lloydminster area on January 27th and charged. The team included the Lloydminster RCMP’s General Investigations Section, the Saskatchewan Crime Reduction Team and Lloydminster Police Dog Services.
A news release from the Lloydminster RCMP says 41-year-old Layne Antosh had ten warrants from the Saskatoon Police Service and eight from Corman Park Police. There was also an in-depth investigation into allegations of financial crimes including identify fraud, forgery and misrepresentation, and fraudulent activities targeting individuals and businesses across multiple provinces. From that investigation, Antosh was charged with fraud over $5,000, identity fraud, forgery, failure to comply with release order conditions and probation conditions, and two counts of possession of a prohibited weapon.
Antosh was brought before a Justice of the Peace, where he was remanded until his next court date, which is tomorrow (Thurs) in the Alberta Court of Justice in Lloydminster. Corporal Christopher Byford from the Lloydminster RCMP Detachment says, “The RCMP is committed to investigating and prosecuting financial crimes that impact individuals and businesses across Canada.” Her urges the public to remain vigilant against fraud schemes and to report any suspicious activities.
