Two men from Calgary have been arrested following a traffic stop on Highway 1 near Swift Current.
On Tuesday, RCMP officers from numerous teams conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was allegedly travelling to Regina. During a search of the vehicle, officers found 8 kilograms of fentanyl hidden under the spare tire.
Now 26-year-old Swati Narula and 28-year-old Kunwardeep Singh are each facing two charges and appeared in Swift Current Provincial Court on Wednesday.
RCMP Superintendent Grant St. Germaine says “This is a significant fentanyl seizure. Keep in mind that only a few grains of fentanyl is enough to potentially cause a fatal overdose. We have prevented potentially millions of doses of this dangerous drug from entering our communities.”
