Blades March Towards Playoffs Hits Road Block in Moose Jaw

After coming close the night before, the Moose Jaw Warriors put together their first winning effort in over a month, with the Saskatoon Blades being the unwitting victims of a 6-2 setback on Saturday night.

Former Prince Albert forward Krzysztof Macias scored three times to pace Moose Jaw to just their 12th win of the season, ending a 12-game winless streak. The Bridge City Bunch out-shot the Warriors 38-22, but saw their Magic Number to clinch a W-H-L Eastern Conference playoff spot stay at seven points as Red Deer clobbered Kelowna 10-2. The Blue and Gold held an early territorial edge, but couldn’t sole Matthew Hutchison until after Macias and Lynden Lakovic staked Moose Jaw to a 2-0 lead. Six different Warriors’ skaters posted multi-point games. Hunter Laing and Jordan Martin scored for the 30-20-7 Blades, who are right back in action Sunday against the Edmonton Oil Kings at SaskTel Centre.
