Since Telemiracle’s fist telethon in 1977, over $165 million has been raised by the Kinsmen Foundation. This year’s telethon, the 49th annual, raised $5,709,306.

Chair of Telemiracle 49, Terri Troupe-Logue, says after the work all year long, with over 400 volunteers, and so many organizations, schools, businesses and individuals raising funds, it’s pretty overwhelming the end of the 20-hour telethon. “We have all come together and we have all worked so hard and we have had little sleep. The generosity just builds after year, and it’s just overwhelming to see people come together and provide all the funds that we can for the people of Saskatchewan every year.

The annual telethon supports the Kinsmen Foundation and the money raised is given to Saskatchewan residents through grants for things like specialized equipment and/or travel to access medical treatment.

Next year will be the milestone 50th year for Telemiracle. Chair of next year’s event, Tammy Blackwell, says there are big plans in the works. “And excitedly, everyone in Saskatchewan has plans for us. They are thinking about all of those memories and it’s stirring up lots of nostalgia.” Blackwell says there will be many highlights of the past 50 years at next year’s show.

The record total to beat was in 2022 when $8,002, 722 was raised.
