The Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Championship continues today and runs through tomorrow in Summerside, Prince Edward Island. The 32 duos that started in the competition, have been reduced to 12 for straight knockout playoffs. Among the 32 duos were the Saskatchewan champions Christie Gamble and Matthew Lang from Langenburg in Pool A. They finished round-robin play with 2 wins, 5 losses…good for 6th place, but failed to make the playoffs. Nancy Martin and Steve Laycock from Martensville were in Pool B. They finished with 5 wins, 2 losses…good for 1st place and advancing to the quarter-finals. Plus, Laura Walker of Edmonton and Kirk Muyres of Humboldt were in Pool C. The Curling Club Women’s and Men’s Provincial Championships start today and run through Sunday at the Sutherland Curling Club in Saskatoon. The women’s event is a five-team round-robin plus the top three teams advancing to straight knockout playoffs. The men’s event is a 28-team modified triple knockout plus eight teams in a straight knockout playoff. Draws today go at 9:30 a.m., 1, 4:30 and 8 p.m.
