The Regina Police Service says their officers responded to a weapons call at a business in the 2800 block of East Quance Street around 12:30 this morning. Police say a man was threatening individuals in the business with a knife. The man had come into the business with a woman and held a knife to her back then got into a cab with her fleeing the scene.
A short time later police got a call from what they believed to be the woman inside the cab. The suspect was heard threatening the female and cab driver before exiting the vehicle. Police were able to locate the suspect in the 400 Block of Toronto Street and say he was running eastbound with what appeared to be a firearm. After a brief foot pursuit, a suspect was taken into custody and an area search turned up a firearm.
Among the charges that 35-year-old Danyiel Joseph Isaiah Dinardo of Regina is facing are kidnapping, assault with a weapon, uttering threats and breach of order of Long-Term Supervision.
