A 30-year-old man from Keeseekoose First Nation is facing six charges following an armed robbery near Meacham.
On the first day of the month at 11:45 a.m., Humboldt RCMP received a report of an armed robbery on Highway #5, five kilometers west of the Highway #5 and Highway #2 junction.
Officers say they learned a man in a truck was pulled over on the side of Highway #5 when a male suspect approached his vehicle. The suspect then assaulted the man in the truck with a weapon and stole his vehicle. The suspect left the truck he was originally travelling in at the scene. It was determined to have been stolen from Saskatoon. The male reported minor injuries to police.
While responding to that call, officers received a report of a robbery at a business located near the junction of Highway #16 and Highway #2. Shortly after, officers located the stolen truck on Highway #2 north of Watrous. After swerving to avoid a tire deflation device, the truck eventually came to a stop where the driver, Brandon Burns, resisted arrest. Officers used a conducted energy weapon on Burns and then arrested him.
Burns appeared in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Wednesday.
