Kathleen Hopfner’s Swift Current foursome won the second Senior Women’s qualifying spiel in Watrous Sunday, defeating Jackie Swiderski of Christopher Lake 6-4 in the final.
The Hopfner quartet advances to the Joint Provincial Seniors Championships, starting February 26 at Saskatoon-Nutana.
Meanwhile, the eight-team field in the Senior Men’s division was filled out over the weekend, thanks to the regional playdowns. Coming out of the Northerns in Nipawin were squads skipped by defending champion Bruce Korte, a second Saskatoon foursome skipped by Brian Humble as well as Brad Heidt of Kerrobert and Garry Flichel. Qualifying out of the Southerns in Moosomin were teams skipped by Randy Gilewich, Bill Weppler and Randy Bryden…all of Regina…plus Rod Quintin of Swift Current.
