The province will be doubling the funding available through the Community Rink Affordability Grant program in 2025-26 after a successful 2024.
The program was able to fund 577 indoor ice surfaces across the province, including 378 skating surfaces and 199 curling surfaces.
Last year, the program awarded grants of $2,500 per ice surface. That number will become $5,000 per indoor ice surface this winter.
Communities that receive the grant use it to help offset the costs of operating indoor skating and curling rinks. Communities, First Nations, schools and non-profits are eligible and encouraged to register for an annual grant per indoor ice surface, and the Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association will be accepting applications for 2025-26 in January 2026.
