RCMP in Surrey B.C. decided to put cut-outs of a Mountie and an RCMP cruiser at high-collisions locations across the city last fall. After three months, it was determined that there was a 12 per cent speed decrease of vehicles passing through the four locations. Data analysis also indicated that the number of drivers complying with the posted speed limit doubled while the cut-outs were up.
