The City of Prince Albert is asking its residents to have patience in light of a surge in calls over bylaw infractions. Now that the snow has melted, calls have been coming in regarding garbage, barking dogs, property conditions, and encampments.
In a news release Trina Wareham, Bylaw Manager for the City of Prince Albert says, “We are asking residents to be patient, to be good neighbours, and to talk to each other. If you can pick up garbage in your neighbourhood without reporting it to Bylaw, that would be a big help.”
She also encourages residents to report discarded needles using the Discarded Needle Reporting Form.
The City of Prince Albert responds to complaints based on a priority system. Encampments, property conditions, and dog bites – are given the highest priority. Lower-priority issues like barking dogs and general garbage complaints the City says will take longer to address.
The number of encampments continues to grow. In April 2025, the Bylaw recorded 49 encampments, compared to 21 in April 2024.
And if you have reported something such as boarded up houses, junk vehicles and unsightly yards, reporting them again won’t mean it makes the process go faster. The City of Prince Albert says the process takes up to 21 days if the property owner complies and if they don’t there are steps the City can take including a legal process which can take months.
