China is one of Canada’s largest merchandise trading partners and, according to Statistics Canada, is an important market for Canadian businesses. In 2018, more than 3,750 Canadian businesses exported goods to that country. That was an increase of more than 400 from 2016. British Columbia was the most important exporting province over the 2016 to 18 period in terms of export values to China. In comparison, Saskatchewan had fewer exporters and sold to fewer Chinese provinces.
