A 44-year-old Regina man, who was working as a correctional officer at the time, has been charged with drug trafficking at the Regina Provincial Correctional Centre.
On September 26 of 2023, White Butte RCMP began an investigation into suspected drug trafficking into the Centre. At the time, a 36-year-old male inmate was charged with the offence, but it was determined that he had an accomplice.
The accomplice was responsible for helping purchase, package and transport illicit substances to an unknown correctional officer at the facility. A 35-year-old woman was identified and charged for the offences.
A lengthy and complex investigation has now led to the arrest of Justin Amyotte. He is charged with conspiracy to commit the indictable offence of trafficking a controlled substance, breach of trust by a public officer, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.
Amyotte will make his next appearance in Regina Provincial Court on August 7.
