It’s my Parting Shot for some Weekend Short Shots…

It seems like we’re never happy unless we’re grumbling about something. When it comes to sports, it’s usually got something to do with a conspiracy theory or unfairness in T-V coverage. The biggest culprits are the national sports networks…T-S-N and Rogers Sportsnet!

Grumble, grumble…this week’s target is T-S-N and why do they show the games of the same few teams only at the Scotties? Probably because Rachel Homan and Jennifer Jones are multi-time champions and just that darn good! Why show the mediocre teams with no shot at being champions? Oh, and look, Homan and Jones are tied for the top…along with Kerri Einarson of Manitoba and I’m pretty certain that one of those three teams will win the Canadian women’s title on Sunday in Moose Jaw!

Grumble, grumble…why does Hockey Night in Canada always show the Maple Leafs on Saturday…even when they aren’t that good or are on the road in the States? That’s not Hockey Night in Canada! Well, it is because…like it or not, believe it or not…Toronto is a Canadian city. It has the largest population with more in that megalopolis that wraps around Lake Ontario. Like it or not, believe it or not, there are more Leafs’ fans than for any other team…so you serve the biggest fan base and demand!

Grumble, grumble…why does the Toronto Sports Network keep feeding us Rod Black doing play-by-play of C-F-L games?! Even though he’s lived in Toronto for many years now, I remember Rod Black from his early days in T-V in Winnipeg and, if I’m being really truthful, I owe him a great deal of thanks for being the catalyst to me meeting my wife nearly 30 years ago! It’s a good story…ask me if you get the chance! In other words, I’ll never say anything bad about Rod Black!!
