CUPE 5545, representing over 40 workers at Phoenix Residential Society, signed their first collective agreement this week.
Phoenix Residential Society staff provide psychosocial rehabilitation services in Regina for those who have psychiatric disorders, acquired brain injuries (ABI) and other cognitive disabilities, are chronically homeless, or are struggling with substance abuse.
In a news release Hannah Kanak, president of CUPE 5545 said, “Our members deserve fair compensation and strong workplace protections, and we are pleased to have negotiated a first collective agreement that will help us achieve that.”
The staff of the Phoenix HOMES program provide immediate access to housing for individuals who are in need followed up with intensive support services once in housing.
CUPE Saskatchewan is the largest union in the province and represents over 30,000 workers across multi work disciplines.
