Angel Blair with CAA says the Safety Patroller program in schools often introduces the students to their first volunteer job where they can learn confidence, time management skills, and leadership skills.
She says any school officials in the province that is interested in introducing the program in their school just needs to reach out to CAA. CAA provides everything for free, so schools are set up with stop paddles, vests and training from local law enforcement.
Blair says the students are given pins for Patroller, Lieutenant and Captain when they are part of the Safey Patrol program. As well Blair says they did medals for COVID, so they are actually doing a re-order of medals to reward the kids taking part.
The CAA Safety Patroller program has been in the province for 70 years.
