Two U of Saskatchewan athletes received weekly Canada West Conference player-of-the-week honours – however one of them wasn’t football quarterback Anton Aumndrud.
He threw five touchdown passes in the Huskies’ 45-22 win in Calgary back on Saturday, but the Canada West football offensive player-of-the-week honour went to Alberta receiver Carter Kettyle, whose three touchdown catches helped pace the Golden Bears to their first win of the season – 38-18 over U-B-C. Dogs kicker and punter Lukas Scott was named the special teams player-of-the-week for going six-for-six on converts, making a 43-yard field goal attempt, averaging almost 64 yards per kickoff and just over 40 yards on six punts. The Huskies are home to Alberta Saturday evening at 7 o’clock at Griffiths Stadium. In addition, Saskatchewan’s Cheyenne Lehmann secured the women’s soccer player-of-the-week salute as she scored three goals in two USask wins over the weekend.
