For the second consecutive year, SaskEnergy is giving $100,000 to several charitable organizations that help Saskatchewan’s vulnerable population through the winter through the corporation’s Share the Warmth program.
Share the Warmth began as a sweater recycling program in the 1990’s that redistributed over one million articles of clothing. Over a decade later, the program is now a grassroots initiative that helps organizations bring warm shelter, clothing and mental health services to those who need it across the province.
Last year’s Share the Warmth program provided grants to support 106 programs in 104 communities, which impacted more than 105,000 people in cities, towns, villages and First Nations across Saskatchewan. Since 2012, the program has doled out nearly $550,000 in grants. Charitable organizations have until October 31st to apply for a grant.
